Privacy.
What The Eyes collects
Very little. There are no accounts, forms, comments or advertising, and The Eyes sets no cookies. It counts page views with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and keeps no personal identifiers: a visit is told apart from another for up to 24 hours by a hash made from the request, which is then discarded, and only anonymous totals are kept (pages viewed, referrer, country, browser and device type). The region you pick for where-to-watch is saved in your own browser (local storage) and never sent to us.
To open where-to-watch on your country, The Eyes asks its own server where your request comes from. The host works out your country from your IP address, and only a two-letter country code comes back to your browser. The Eyes does not store or log it, and no one else receives it. If that is not available, The Eyes uses the language setting of your browser, read on your device. Nothing more precise than a country is used, and you can change the region at any time.
Who else sees your visit
- The host (Vercel) keeps standard server logs, such as your IP address and the pages requested.
- Posters and backdrops load from TMDB, and trailer preview images from YouTube, so those services see your IP address.
- Pressing Watch trailer loads a YouTube player (the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com version), and YouTube sees your visit from then on.
Where the film information comes from
Film details, posters and keywords come from TMDB, and where-to-watch listings come from TMDB too, supplied by JustWatch. None of these services receive any information about you from The Eyes: requests for this data are made by our server, not your browser.
Your data and deleting it
The Eyes holds no personal data of yours, so there is nothing to delete. For anything held by the host or the services above, ask them directly.
